About Snow Day Risk
Snow Day Risk is a free snow day calculator for students, parents and teachers in the United States and Canada. You enter a ZIP or postal code and it gives the chance that school is closed or delayed on the next school morning.
It was built because the question deserves a straight answer. The result names its reasons, the method is published in full on the How it works page, and the site says plainly that it is an estimate.

Where the data comes from
Forecasts come from the US National Weather Service, a public service of the US government. Town locations come from the US Census Bureau and public school locations from the National Center for Education Statistics. For Canada, forecasts come from Open-Meteo and weather alerts from Environment and Climate Change Canada (contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Canada). ZIP code and postal code locations in both countries come from GeoNames. Open-Meteo and GeoNames data are under CC BY 4.0. School board areas come from the provinces' open data: this site contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Ontario, the Open Government Licence – British Columbia, the Open Government Licence – Alberta and the Manitoba government's open data licence, and data from the Gouvernement du Québec under CC BY 4.0. This site is independent and is not affiliated with any of them, or with any school district.
